I am a woman of many endeavors, so I created this blog to help friends, family and colleagues keep track of me.
In the fall I plan to go to Journalism School. I have applied to three schools and we shall see where I end up, Univ of Colorado, Boulder, Univ of Wisconsin-Madison, or Univ of Missouri-Columbia.
Some of my endeavors include a previous life as a community organizer working for Western Colorado Congress, a nonprofit member group focused on protecting the quality of life on the Western Slope of Colorado.
I am currently enrolled in Metro State College of Denver where I have mostly been taking Studio Art classes. Some day I hope to integrate my work as a visual artist with my work as a journalist. I am very interested in communication and I like how visual art is a good medium for communicating intangible things. Check out some of my work on my portfolio page.
This semester I will be hosting a news show on MetRadio, but nothing is up and running yet.
My original education was in Biology and I have a Master degree in Environmental Education. I hope to specialize in science writing. I have always been interested in the area where Science meets policy making and people’s lives, so I hope to report on those sort of stories. One of my favorite radio shows is Radio Lab which describes itself as a show where “science meets culture and information sounds like music.” I recommend giving it a listen.
Other things I love include my dog Ponce rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico where he was a stray.
He highly recommends that you check out this web-sit about adopting dogs from Puerto Rico (which they call Satos). We didn’t go through this organization, but agree that it is a good idea.
Ponce and I share our lives with two other shelter dogs (Jake and Shadow), a cat (Mia), and my boyfriend (Jeremy). It can get kind of crazy around here.
